Luminaria is an enchanting walk through Ashton Gardens that transports you to another world with all of the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of the holidays. A one-way path guides you past millions of twinkling lights in 28 themed areas and the iconic luminaire hill – a light and music show on 6,500 programmable luminaries. Each luminary is a pixel in a moving picture of a flying reindeer, illuminating snowflakes and other signs of the season. Songs and shows will be even better with the iconic 120-foot tree (already on top of a 40-foot hill!) incorporated into the show.

The Temple Square Christmas lights and concerts are an annual tradition and a top favorite for many Utah locals. The lights are turned on each year the day after the Thanksgiving holiday and remain on through New Year’s Day. During these evenings, Temple Square is usually aglow with over one million lights, musical performances, and holiday cheer.

It’s hard to describe the magic of Candlelight Christmas. The Village is decorated like a Currier & Ives card, and you’ll feel like you’ve taken a step back in time when you visit this enchanting event.
You’ll enjoy a visit with Father Christmas and see real live reindeer. In the quiet of the Village, the live Nativity scene is sure to touch the hearts of young and old alike. The Heritage Village Carolers return each year for an encore presentation, providing an inspiring backdrop to the glitter of lights, the glow of warm fires, and the smells of Christmas.
Take home a little bit of Christmas by joining in the fun of making crafts and homemade decorations in one of the decorated historic homes or pioneer cabins. And you can save all your holiday shopping for your visit to the Park. The Gift Shop at the Visitors Center and the ZCMI Mercantile have Salt Lake’s best selection of unique, all-occasion gifts for everyone on your list!
Observe a Christmas as the pioneers did – quieter, simpler, and fun for all. Make Candlelight Christmas part of your cherished family traditions.

Deemed ‘Utah’s #1 Christmas Theatre Tradition’!
Parents, who once came as children – are now returning with their children to witness the miracle of Ebenezer Scrooge’s change of heart. Charles Dickens’s important tale of redemption and forgiveness is splendidly retold through Richard G. Wilkins’ rich adaptation and Barlow Bradford’s stunning choral arrangements and orchestrations. The costumes and sets are spectacular.
