Hairspray “The Musical”

airspray (musical) Centerpointe Legacy Theatre, Centerville, Utah, Musical, Play, theater

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre is bringing Broadway Magic, Utah Style to the Wasatch Front. We are located at the center point between Sandy and Ogden, just off the Legacy Parkway and I-15 in Centerville, Utah. Don’t miss any of our exciting premiere season shows! Beginning with the Musical Hairspray on Valentine’s Day!

Hairspray is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and “downtown” rhythm and blues. In 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad’s dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. She then launches a campaign to integrate the show. Hairspray is a social commentary on the injustices of parts of American society in the 1960s.

Winner of Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s “Spamalot” is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and The Holy Grail.” With a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, “Spamalot” tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up “Spamalot.”
