RDT presents Charette

Repertory Dance Theatre, Charette, RDT, Salt Lake City, Utah, Contemporary Dance, Performing ArtsExperience the process, the party, and the performance… a friendly competition. Repertory Dance Theatre Presents Charette, February 12th at the Rose Wagner Performance Center’s Jeanné Wagner Theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Charette (sha-ret) french an intense period of design activity

Party behind the scenes while five choreographers design award-winning dances in record time. Ignite the FUN back into fund-raising. Enjoy surprise celebrity appearances. Mingle with former RDT dancers from our rich 45 year history.

RDT’s Charette is….

5 fearless choreographers

9 RDT dancers

30 community dancers

5 esteemed judges

500 audience members eating, drinking, and bribing with RDT funny money

1 friendly competition to crown the Iron Choreographer for 2011!

We are pleased to announce….
Ken Verdoia will be the Emcee for Charette 2011!

Salt Lake City’s own Mayor Ralph Becker will be one of the celebrity judges!

Please check back soon for updates regarding celebrity appearances, participating choreographers and judges, and more details!

How Charette Works

Audience goes immediately to the theatre for introductions to 5 pre-selected alumni choreographers and for the rehearsed performance.

Five choreographers are given “secret ingredients” that they must use in each composition.

RDT’s 9 professional dancers and 30 gifted community dancers are divided between the choreographers and are sent to one of the 5 studios to create their work.

Charette guests (the audience) eat, drink, and merrily wander between the party and the studios where dance is being created. Guests are invited to “bribe” the judges to vote for their favorite choreographer with RDT Funny Money.

After an hour everyone returns to the theatre to see the newly created dances, vote for their favorite, and see who winsthe title of RDT’s “Iron Choreographer” for 2011!
