Ghostface Killah with Sheek Louch

Catch Ghostface Killah with Sheek Louch (of the Lox) and music by Frank Dukes November 8th at Urban Lounge.  As one of the original members of the seminal ’90s rap crew the Wu-Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah (aka Tony Starks) made an impact before he released his debut album, Ironman, late in 1996. Like all members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the rapper used the group as a launching pad for a solo career, which was assisted greatly by other members of the Clan, particularly producer RZA.

Self-Described “Indie Cello Orchestra,” The Portland Cello Project (or, PCP, as their fans affectionately call them) has a deep-rooted philosophy of building a stronger music community through collaborations across all genres. Their performances are unique and eclectic—one might hear hip-hop mixed with bach or a haunting cover of Britney Spears. This is a whole new cello experience.

Mountain West Ballet presents The Nutcracker Sandy Utah Holiday DanceOn opening night, the costumes are exquisite and hair and make-up are detailed to perfection. The lights dim, the curtain rises and the music sparks excitement, as the familiar notes fill the air. Both dancers and audiences delight in anticipation of the upcoming production of Mountain West Ballet’s 26th performance of The Nutcracker.

Mountain West Ballet is Sandy City’s community-based, non-profit ballet company. With dancers representing over 25 dance schools, colleges and universities throughout Utah, this community ballet will perform the tale of Clara and her handsome nutcracker prince come to life.

Complete with all the captivating charm The Nutcracker has offered audiences for generations, this special production will be performed December 10 – 20, 2010 at the Theater at Mount Jordan (9360 S. 300 E.) in Sandy. Friday, Saturday and Monday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday matinee performances beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Sandy City Mayor Tom Dolan notes that, “Mountain West Ballet’s celebration of its 26th annual production of The Nutcracker is a gesture of the community’s commitment to our youth and the arts. We hope this tradition continues for years to come.”
