Miner’s Day Park City

Miner’s Day Celebration in City Park will feature great live music from Brooklyn, NY’s The Pimps Of Joytime and Special Guests JEBU:

The Pimps of Joytime are the ultimate desert island band. PJT’s can turn a lifetime in isolation into a party that never ends. This multi-ethnic group hits all the marks and crosses all the barriers, bridging the gap between underground funk, soul, pop, dance, afrobeat and latin, filling every song with soulful harmonies and great vibes.

Brian J is the band’s ringmaster. He started PJT’s in Brooklyn back in 2005, where they cut their teeth while playing clubs in Williamsburg and the East Village. On stage, he’s the lead singer and guitarist, and in the studio, he’s the funkiest one-man-band this side of Minneapolis.

Mixing samples and dance beats with tasty live musicianship and sweet vocal harmonies, The Pimps of Joytime have evolved into the current five-piece that gets crowds on their feet from London to New York to San Francisco. Somehow, PJT’s found a way to put a modern twist on a retro sound, creating dirty, ass-shakin’ grooves like no one else out there!

Cycle Fest

Recent developments in the XTRM AMA Pro Racing Supermoto Championship will put added emphasis on this weekend’s headline event in the third annual Cycle Fest presented by Bully Dog Technologies at Miller Motorsports Park.

Series organizers have announced that the scheduled season finale for the XTRM AMA Pro Racing Supermoto Championship at California’s Mammoth Mountain on September 20 has been canceled, and that this weekend’s event at Miller Motorsports Park will now be a season-ending double-header event. All three divisions (Supermoto Lites, Supermoto Premier and Supermoto Unlimited) will have two feature races on Sunday.

This will add more excitement to what was already going to be an action-packed weekend for two-wheeled enthusiasts.

On Saturday and Sunday, the historic racing machines of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) will host the Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix on the East Course of the main track. Among the highlights will be a Le Mans-start race for Honda CB160s featuring former World Superbike Champion Doug Polen, and the always-amazing two-man sidecars, with the passenger (known as “the monkey”) shifting their body from side to side, sometimes hanging completely off the machine, to maximize traction through the corners.

While AHRMA is racing on the East Course, Miller Motorsports Park’s own amateur motorcycle road racing series, the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains, will race on the West Course, featuring some of the top contemporary amateur racers from throughout the western United States.

Joining the pro Supermoto riders at the Miller Karting Complex’s state-of-the-art Supermoto course will be an amateur event on Saturday featuring the XTRM AMA Amateur Supermoto Championship along with MMP’s local Utah Supermoto Championship.

Hootie and the Blowfish Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is known for his role as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish, of which he has been a member since the band’s inception in 1986 and his work as a solo artist.

Along with his work in Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker has recorded two solo albums. The first, Back to Then, was released in 2002 on Hidden Beach Recordings. An album of country music entitled Learn to Live followed in 2008 on Capitol Records Nashville. Its first three singles — “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”, “It Won’t Be Like This for Long” and “Alright” — have all reached Number One on the U.S. country singles charts. With these singles, Rucker has become the first black artist to top the country charts since Charley Pride did in 1983; “Alright” also made him the first country singer since Wynonna Judd to have their first three singles all reach Number One.

The Gorgeous Hussies

With The Wailing O’Sheas

In a music-scene full of angst and over-production, The Gorgeous Hussies’ atypical take on alternative pop-rock is refreshing and infectious as they weave off-the-wall riffs, catchy melodies and danceable beats. The trio speaks to their audience the best way they know how: solid, melodically focused rock tunes, inspired arrangements, down-to-earth lyrics and clever live improvisation through a unique live performance.

The Gorgeous Hussies have been met with much fanfare from press outlets throughout the different regions they’ve toured. Newspapers, radio, and television stations have all been both gracious and enthusiastic in promoting and showcasing this grassroots band and have spread the word to their audience about The Gorgeous Hussies’ upbeat and rock-driven live show.

Since the summer of 2006 this Salt Lake City based rock outfit has been tirelessly touring and entertaining audiences at venues throughout the western United States and don’t show any signs of slowing down.
