Since forming the Pretenders three decades ago, Hynde has proven to be a one-of-a-kind tough-minded, outspoken and an utterly uncompromising artist – yet also capable of moments of heart-wrenching tenderness.
None of the five musicians who comprise this set of Pretenders has recorded with her before – but they take to her songs like they’ve been waiting all their lives for this moment.
Cat Power
Chan Marshall stops time. She sits at a piano or lays her guitar across her lap, and whether it’s a noisy club or a coffee house, Chan Marshall draws all the attention in the room and makes the world stop spinning. As Cat Power, Marshall’s music seems to rise from nowhere, envelop the room, then vanish; listeners know they’ve been hit by something but they’re not sure what.

Live brass, experienced musicians, and smooth vocals create the sound that is Smiling Souls and gives you music from around the world. With their first album to be released soon, they are hitting the Salt Lake City club scene to treat music lovers to a true mix of musical culture that is sure to rock the spot.
