Amanda Chamberlain

Utah Celebrity
TV Host, Entertainment Writer, DJ & Media Personality

Being The Globe’s Senior Editor taught me the ins and outs of newspaper operations, and really ignited my passion for writing. After getting my associates in print journalism from SLCC in 2006, I transferred to the University of Utah (from which I graduated in Dec. 2008 with a BA in communication). I always had a flair toward entertainment – Amanda Chamberlain, Utah Celebrity, Salt Lake City, DJ, Host, TV ProducerI’m drawn to anything from the glitz of Hollywood to leather-bound rock ‘n’ roll – so when my SLCC instructor and mentor Nick Burns told me about a new Utah entertainment magazine called “IN,” I signed up for an internship right away. After three months of doing feature writing and data entry, I was hired as a full-time staff writer. I’ve been at IN for almost three years now, penning everything from band interviews to bar reviews to style columns. I have kept myself in the public eye by making media appearances, emceeing events, judging contests and volunteering. In addition to writing for IN, I have added “radio DJ” and “TV host” to my resume due to my freelance work at 97.5 The Blaze, KUTV 2News This Morning and Park City Television. In the near future, I aim to cross over to television full-time and finish my novel.

I’ve found it important to diversify my skills to include all media forms, because I am now in much higher demand and have become privvy to a slew of new opportunities. I’ve grown beyond the title “writer” into a “media personality,” which allows me to entertain many of my interests at once.

Before you do anything else, ride the train around the Village to see all the Park has to offer. Then you can plan where and what you’d like to visit once you get off!

While not exact replicas, two of our train engines represent the Jupiter and 119 that met at Promontory Point, Utah, in 1869 to complete the first transcontinental railroad. The newest addition to our train fleet is the Blackhawk, named after the first train that completed the journey from Ogden, Utah to Salt Lake City. Additionally, a “mini-train”; on tracks runs around Settlers’ Pond especially for children to enjoy as part of their visit to the Park. Hear the clacking of the rails and the steam of the engine like days gone by.

Free Juggling Show

Wasatch Front Jugglers, Trolley Square, Salt Lake City, Utah, Lessons, Classes, Free Learn to JuggleThe Wasatch Front Jugglers (WFJ) meets every Sunday (barring holidays/special events) from 3:30 to 6:30 P.M. at Trolley Square Mall, located at 600 South and 700 East in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Our normal meeting space, the indoor amphitheatre on the South side of Trolley Square is currently under construction. In the meantime, we are meeting on the North side of the main building (the outdoor amphitheatre/fountain), near the bank.

The meetings are completely open, as practice sessions – we hope to see new people who want to learn to juggle, amateurs who want to practice or learn new tips, and professionals who just want to have a good time. The meetings are unstructured- and work as an open, group practice.

We encourage anyone and everyone to meet us at Trolley Square, as our practice sessions are open to everyone… whether you are a spectator or just hoping to join in the fun and learn to juggle!

Greek Theatre

Greek Theatre (Los Angeles)

The Greek Theatre is in Griffith Park. It was paid for with a donation from Griffith J. Griffith, who also donated the land for the park.

Greek Theatre Los Angeles CaliforniaThis 5,870-seat Greek Theatre is owned by the city of Los Angeles, and is managed, operated and promoted by Nederlander-Greek Inc. The Greek Theatre won the Best Small Outdoor Venue award seven times in the past eight years, which was awarded by Pollstar Magazine, the industry’s leading trade publication.

The Greek Theatre had a limited concert season during its first two decades. During World War II, the amphitheater was used as a barracks. In 1947, however, the theatre was used for the Broadway show Anything Goes for two weeks. During the 1950s, under the management of James Doolittle, a concert promoter, the amphitheatre underwent a series of renovations that allowed the theater to compete with rival 1950s’ theaters; Doolittle in fact drew up plans for those renovations.

In 1983, the Greek Theatre’s seating capacity was expanded to 6,187, but recent renovations have brought the Greek Theatre’s capacity down to 6,162 in 1995 and to 5,700 in 2004. In 2009 the Los Angeles Fire Marshal permitted the addition of two more rows in the pit, bringing full capacity at the Greek to 5,870 seated / 5,900 general admission.

The Greek Theatre is used for concerts, stage shows, and graduation ceremonies for Thomas Starr King Middle School and John Marshall High School, among other events.*

Ancient Greek Theatre

Ancient Greek Theatre, Tragedy, Comedy, TheaterThe theatre of ancient Greece, or ancient Greek drama, is a theatrical culture that flourished in ancient Greece between c. 550 and c. 220 BC. The city-state of Athens, which became a significant cultural, political and military power during this period, was its centre, where it was institutionalised as part of a festival called the Dionysia, which honoured the god Dionysus. Tragedy (late 6th century BC), comedy (486 BC), and the satyr play were the three dramatic genres to emerge there. Athens exported the festival to its numerous colonies and allies in order to promote a common cultural identity. Western theatre originated in Athens and its drama has had a significant and sustained impact on Western culture as a whole.* _ All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License‎ – Wikipedia
