Jewel

Jewel, Musical Artist, Musician, Country Music, Folk, Yodeling, Park City, UtahAn acclaimed singer, songwriter, actress, poet, painter, philanthropist and daughter to an Alaskan cowboy singer-songwriter, Jewel will usher in 2011 with a combination of country, pop and &ndash: dare we say &ndash: her now-famous yodeling. From the remote ranch of her Alaskan youth to the triumph of international stardom, the three-time Grammy nominee, hailed by the New York Times as a “songwriter bursting with talents” has enjoyed career longevity rare among her generation of artists. Whether alone with her guitar or fronting a band of ace musicians, Jewel has always been a charismatic live performer, earning the respect of other singer-songwriters such as Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan and Neil Young, who, not only invited her to open their shows, but mentored her in the early phases of her career.

The Wayne Hoskins Band at Sundance 2011

The Wayne Hoskins Band at Sundance Film Festival 2011, Park City, Utah, Acoustic Rock, Rock Music, Ogden, Salt Lake City, UtahJoin The Wayne Hoskins Band at the House of Blues Foundation Room as part of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.  This Utah Born winner of the 2009 for best Utah Rock Band will be an event you won’t want to miss.

The Wayne’s resume includes live performances at THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL, two invitations to the exclusive Acoustic All Stars Festival in Park City, Utah, the Promenade Music Festival in Boise, Idaho and the Project Green River Music Festival. The Wayne was also a featured artist at the Utah State Fair.

Most recently, The Wayne Hoskins Band performed with SAFETYSUIT, as seen on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown, to a crowd of over 1,000+ excited fans. One fan had this to say about the show: “The Wayne Hoskins Band was AMAZING! I really enjoyed their music!” (–Ashlee from Provo, Utah)

Influenced by The Frames, Justin Currie and Todd Thibaud, The Wayne falls into a cross-genre; compared to Counting Crows, Ray LaMontagne, The Fray, Lifehouse and Daughtry, the best way to describe The Wayne might simply be – classically good.

FIBT Bobsled and Skeleton World Championships

Utah Olympic Park presents the World Junior Championship Bobsleigh, Skeleton at Park City’s Olympic Park January 31st – February 6th, 2011

Bobsledding, FIBT Bobsled and Skeleton Championships, Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh, Park City, Utah, Olympic Park, Winter ActivitiesBoth men and women compete in the sport of bobsleigh, a sport that combines speed, power and agility. There are two person races for men and women. Men also have a four-man event. Bobsleigh is one of the original sports in the Olympic Winter Games.

In skeleton, there are separate racing disciplines for men and women. In World Cup competitions two heats are held over one day.  At the FIBT World Championships (held annually except in the Olympic year), four heats are held over two days.

The Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT) was founded on November 23, 1923 by the delegates of Great Britain, France and Switzerland, and the representatives of Canada and the United States, meeting at an International Congress in Paris, France. The FIBT headquarters is in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Bobsleigh as an organized and active sport thrived from before the turn of the century. However, it was the advent of the 1924 Winter Games and the acceptance of Bobsleigh as an Olympic sport that prompted the formation of a federation.

“Natural Impressions” A Group Show

A group Art Show featuring Amy Ringholz, Lisa Lamoreaux, and Brad Stroman.

Amy Ringholz Art, Park City Utah, Gallery Mar, Lisa Lamoreaux, Brad StromanOver the last few years Amy Ringholz has taken the Western art scene by storm. Her energetic canvases and vivid imagination combine to create an inspired array of animals, each with their own playful personalities. Known for her atypical color combinations and bold, saturated colors, Ringholz’s palette begins with earth tones and then often advances bravely to cartoon/crayon hues. In addition, her animal subjects seem to display human qualities that engage the viewer through the power of personality and eye contact. Blessed with a gift, the creative spark and a pure heart, Amy brings her journey of discovery to her art. Amy Ringholz was chosen as one of Southwest Art Magazine’s 21 Under 31 Emerging Artists of 2005.

Lisa Lamoreaux creates in the moment. Her mixed media works are a result of going to her canvases in a feverish, intuitive fashion, often without any plan. She responds to the images, maps, and textures that they comprise her works, creating a layer of mixed media papers with oil and acrylic paints. Her work process allows Lamoreaux a free mind to discover the relationship between the medium and brush. Her results are more interesting, complex narratives and compositions than their original, subjective concept. This process of “getting out of the way” holds deep meaning for the artist. She labors to both stay present with the process and to notice the connections between her internal state, environment, and the manifestation of each in her work.

As an artist-activist Brad Stroman combines his passion for making art with his concerns for our environment. His abstracted still life paintings are exhibited nationally in both solo and juried group shows, and are included in nearly 100 private and corporate collections. The work reflects the intimate and fragile relationship between man and nature, and features man-made wall textures alongside natural elements such as river rocks, tree limbs, fragile eggs, and other elements. By incorporating the Japanese Zen Buddhist aesthetic of wabi-sabi, Stroman creates a stage where both nature and man-made surfaces and objects play out their balancing act. Wabi-sabi professes a belief that all things are incomplete, impermanent, and imperfect.
