No special preparation is required, all though some instrumental background is very helpful. The choir is a prize-winner in international competition and has long been regarded by choral professionals as one of the finest ensembles of its kind in America. It emphasizes correct vocal development, artistic sensitivity and the use of the world’s outstanding vocal literature (both classical and multi-cultural). Its performances are in the area’s premier concert settings, and it can also be heard on local and national classical radio broadcasts. Sunn O))) , The Accüsed and Eagle Twin

Sunn O))) (pronounced simply “Sun”) is an American drone/doom/experimental band based in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA and formed in 1998. The band’s core members consists of Stephen O’Malley (Khanate, Burning Witch, SARIN, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Lotus Eaters, Ginnungagap, Thorr’s Hammer, Fungal Hex, KTL, Æthenor, Gravetemple) and Greg Anderson (Goatsnake, Thorr’s Hammer, Burning Witch, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Brotherhood, Engine Kid, FALSE LIBERTY, Burial Chamber Trio, Ascend). The band was formed as a tribute of sorts to Earth, another very heavy band noted as the pioneers of drone metal. G. Stuart Dahlquist currently of Asva and ex-Burning Witch performed bass on The Grimmrobe Demos and ØØ Void.

The band is named after the Sunn amplifier brand, whose logo includes a circle next to the “SUNN” banner with waves heading off to the right – reading those out as letters makes “Sunn O)))”. The band uses the same logo for their albums as well.

Their sound is extremely slow and heavy, using droning guitars accompanied by feedback and other sound effects to create their soundscapes. There is very little drumming and a lack of any discernible beat, though their collaboration album with Boris features drumming from Boris drummer, Atsuo.

Rebelution, Tribal Seeds and Iration

Rebelution first united in Santa Barbara, California, built from a wide array of musical backgrounds. With Reggae as the focus, the group set out to create a fresh and vibrant sound which they dub California Reggae. The band released their highly anticipated full-length album in June of 2007 and just weeks after its release, “Courage to Grow” became one of the most downloaded Reggae albums on iTunes. By the end of the year, it had been awarded the iTunes Editors Choice: Best Reggae Album 2007.

“Apparently, California Reggae is hot. Stemming from a foundation of local support, Rebelution soared into iTunes Reggae Top 10 (album downloads), amongst some lofty company. Lofty like Bob, Stephen, and Damian Marley.”
— Santa Barbara News-Press

Rebelution’s dynamic sound is led by diverse vocalist and guitarist Eric Rachmany. Together with the elevating melodies of Rory Carey keyboards and hard-hitting beats by bass player Marley D. Williams and drummer Wesley Finley, the band will make you move both physically and mentally.

“If you love Bob Marley, Sublime, and Jack Johnson and you’re a regular on the State Street scene, then chances are you’re already crazy about Rebelution. Their combination of reggae, hip-hop, and rock have made them a favorite of music lovers all over town.”
— The Santa Barbara Independent

Within the last year, Rebelution has made a name for themselves with their iTunes success and performances with notable artists like Barrington Levy, Israel Vibration, Junior Reid, Don Carlos, Pepper, Eek-A-Mouse, Pato Banton, Tanya Stephens, Half Pint, SOJA, Yellowman, Talib Kweli, E-40, and The Pharcyde.
