Oppenheimer Update… July 27, 2023
Of the three Megaplex IMAX screens (Jordan Commons, Valley Fair, The District), only JC’s screen is a full IMAX aspect ratio of 1.43:1. The other two are 1.80:1 (aka LieMAX aspect ratio). Some of Oppenheimer was shot in 1.43, which means the 1.80 screens would be missing about 20% of the complete picture of the 1.43 scenes. All three of the IMAX theaters use digital 2k xenon projectors, which are relatively low resolution. Unfortunately, there aren’t any 70mm or 4k laser IMAX theaters here. The Cinemark “XD” screens are equivalent scale to the Megaplex LieMAX screens.
For the best available picture quality (better than above IMAX screens), but smaller screens with cropped aspect ratio, Broadway Theater is showing in 35mm, and the Gateway Megaplex has theaters with new laser projectors with Dolby Atmos sound.
So depends on what you prefer – the largest/complete picture (JC IMAX) or better picture quality (Broadway 35mm, Gateway laser). —u/al00f_0wl, Reddit, Salt Lake City

Wheeler Historic Farm is a Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation facility open to the public 365 days a year from dusk to dawn. There is NO ADMISSION FEE to enter the grounds and nominal fees for activities such as wagon rides, milking the cow, and special events.

A living working farm where guests can visit animals & milk a cow, take wagon rides or tour a Historic Pioneer Victorian home. They have cows, horses, chickens, pigs, sheep, turkeys, goats, and rabbits.

Reenactors in blue and grey from across the country will skirmish in and around Heritage Village, complete with infantry, cannon fire, and horse-mounted cavalry. Talk to soldiers one-on-one and peruse Civil War-era goods in subtlers’ tents. There’s no better way to learn history than to experience history, and this will be a great experience.
