The Avett Brothers

With the Heartless Basturds
When the Avett Brothers play, you hear a deep love for music. Their songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, get people to start talking, and are the reasons why so many sing along. North Carolina’s Avett Brothers play acoustic music that has roots in traditional folk and bluegrass, but also captures the high spirits and no-boundaries attitude of rock & roll — which is appropriate, since rock is where Scott Avett and Seth Avett cut their teeth as musicians.

Jackson Browne

Since his acclaimed 1972 self-titled debut album, Jackson Browne has defined a genre of songwriting and performing that is charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. Two of his albums, Late For the Sky and The Pretender, are on Rolling Stone‘s list of the ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time.’ He’s been recognized with inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame (2007), with recent humanitarian honors including the John Steinbeck Award and the Chapin-World Hunger Year Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award. In January of this year, Browne was part of the celebrations surrounding the inauguration of President Barack Obama, performing at the Health for All Blue Diamond Ball at the Smithsonian Institution’s Natural History Museum.

Iron and Wine

Part of the Gallivan Center Twilight Series. Iron and Wine is the stage name for Sam Beam, a Florida native whose lo-fi demos caught the attention of Sub Pop honcho Jonathan Poneman. Beam’s first studio album, ‘Our Endless Numbered Days,’ garnered great press and considerable exposure through 2004, with music appearing in such films as ‘Garden State’ and ‘In Good Company.’

Legacy Parkway Bike and Run

Please join us at the Hess Cancer Legacy Bike and Run, held on August 29, 2009. It includes a Half-Marathon, a 20-Mile Bike Tour, and a 2-Mile Fun Run. These three events will be held on the Legacy Parkway, which will be the first time the Parkway has been closed since opening last year. Registration is now open for this event!

The Hess Cancer Foundation, Inc (HCF) is a Utah-based public charity. HCF is all about helping those who need it most and keeping the donations they receive in the local community.

Many public charities have been organized to find a cure for cancer, but that isn’t our goal. We are instead focusing on providing financial assistance to those families that have been struck by cancer and weren’t financially prepared for it.

If you are a father or a mother, then you know how much your child means to you. When your child is diagnosed with cancer, everything changes — your life will change. If cancer steals your child from you, then your wish will be to tell the world what a perfect child you had. HCF only wants to help those parents that have faced such a tragedy do exactly that.

The Lovell Sisters

There is a word often used when describing rising Americana stars The Lovell Sisters: Passion. It’s what these three young women (ages 18-23) feel when they step on stage. Passion is the fuel that feeds their writing and arranging, and it colors every note they play and sing on Time To Grow, their upcoming album. Winners of Prairie Home Companion’s National Teen Talent Competition in 2005, the Lovell Sisters spread the heavenly harmony of sisterhood and sibling string virtuosity — Jessica on fiddle, Megan on dobro, Rebecca on guitar and mandolin (the first female to win the Merlefest mandolin contest).”

Box Dinners
Too busy to pack your own picnic? For the Round Mountain and LovellSisters concerts, we are offering two food options to pair with your own drinks or bottle of wine. Just select your preference on this order form and your boxed dinner, prepared by Jeremiah’s Catering, will be waiting for you at the concert by 6:30 pm. Options include:

Gourmet cheese & fruit platter for two. $12
Cold pasta salad with artisan bread for one. $12
