Uncle Uncanny’s Music Festival

This year we are pleased to announce the 2009 Summer Session will take place in a new location. Uncle Uncannys is proud to partner up with the Rivers edge at Deer Park in Beautiful Wasatch county Utah to throw an amazing festival. The new convenient location offers plenty of camping, deluxe affordable cabin rentals, and a great concert area. Bicycle Hill Climb

It’s one of the oldest road bike races in the state of Utah, and it’s a tough one: approximately ten miles and 3,300 vertical feet. There will be great prizes, a band and a raffle. This is going to be a very busy day at Snowbird. Following the Bicycle Hill Climb riders will be the 1,000 Warriors and following them up the canyon will be the Tour of Utah. Oktoberfest also begins on this day at 11:30 a.m.

Snowbird Tent Revival

The Snowbird Renaissance Center is excited to present this first ever HISTORIC music festival, focused on the roots of gospel music which integrates black and white cultural expressions of the music that laid the foundation for all American music.

Featuring: Blind Boys of Alabama, Mavis Staples, Mike Farris & the Roseland Rhythm Revue featuring the McCrary Sisters, JJ Grey and Mofro, The Legendary Soul Stirrers, The Sacred Shakers, Cory Mon & the Starlight Gospel, and the The Calvary Baptist Choir.

In addtion there will be free workshops, a Sunday Hat Contest and lots more fun!

Frontier Bank Community Concert Series

The Frontier Bank Community Concert Series presented by Mountain Town Music welcomes musicians weekly on Wednesdays. The concert is free and will last from 6 to 8 p.m. Picnics and dancing are encouraged, but animals are not permitted. Deer Valley’s food and beverage concession stand will be open during the concert and Gourmet Picnic Baskets are available for purchase. Since forming the Pretenders three decades ago, Hynde has proven to be a one-of-a-kind tough-minded, outspoken and an utterly uncompromising artist – yet also capable of moments of heart-wrenching tenderness.

None of the five musicians who comprise this set of Pretenders has recorded with her before – but they take to her songs like they’ve been waiting all their lives for this moment.

Chan Marshall stops time. She sits at a piano or lays her guitar across her lap, and whether it’s a noisy club or a coffee house, Chan Marshall draws all the attention in the room and makes the world stop spinning. As Cat Power, Marshall’s music seems to rise from nowhere, envelop the room, then vanish; listeners know they’ve been hit by something but they’re not sure what.
